VISION STATEMENT
The vision of Advancing Women of Color in the Academy (AWOCA) is to emerge as a distinguished network for supporting and promoting the retention and achievement of women of color scholars in the academy MISSION STATEMENT Advancing Women of Color in the Academy (AWOCA) provides mentoring support to advance women of color scholars in the academy, including collaboration through research, publishing, and grant-writing opportunities, and offering seminars and workshops to foster and enhance knowledge and research. |

CORE VALUES
Advancing Women of Color in the Academy (AWOCA) is a diverse scholarly network that values:
Collaboration – scholars engage in collaboration in the areas of research interests, grantmanship, scholarly publications, creative activities, and conference presentations to disseminate knowledge and scientific research nationally and globally
Mentorship –scholars receive support from one another including guidance on the process of writing for publication and navigating the academy (i.e., challenges and opportunities of the academy as they pertain to unique issues for women of color)
Advancement – scholars aim to increase the tenure and promotion of women of color (i.e., assistant to associate; associate to full professorship) within and across institutions of higher learning, generating a legacy of success for future scholars and society-at-large
